Education and History

Nurturing young minds with truth--unveiling the full tapestry of American history, celebrating the rich legacy of African American heritage, and journeying back through time to the heart of Africa, where our story first began.

Partnership and Community

The Feeders Program joins hands with local businesses to sow the seeds of self-sustaining growth, crafting pathways that lift our young men toward brighter horizons. As they rise, so too does our community--because at The Feeders, nurturing both heart and home is our deepest calling.

Delegation and Empowerment

Our young men will be actively engaged in the community and empowered to make confident, informed decisions. We are committed to instilling strong core values that guide their growth and character.

The Story Behind Our Movement

Growing up, Jerald “JD” Davis always had a deep love for learning and new experiences. Early on, during middle school, he attended French Camp and later participated in Project 9×9, both of which played a role in shaping his perspective. But no experience left an impression quite like The Upward Bound Program at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio, led by Director A Brad McClain, JD attended the program throughout high school, and it not only helped him form lifelong friendships but also thoroughly prepared him for Ohio University. What JD didn’t fully realize at the time was the lasting impact Mr. McClain would have on him. A Brad McClain was astute, highly educated, deeply respected, and carried himself with calm humility. Known for his signature bow ties and scholarly presence, he looked every bit the educator and mentor he truly was. Over time, JD came to recognize just how much he looked up to Mr. McClain–and how his quiet leadership left a powerful mark. While JD doesn’t share that same quiet leadership style, he hopes to have a similarly meaningful impact on young men through The Feeders Program. Together with Jeff Brantley and Cecil West, who both eagerly joined the initiative, JD is bringing strong, positive energy into the community. Their shared commitment is to uplift, mentor, and build up the next generation of future leaders–The Feeders.

The Feeders Violence Prevention & Stop the Gun Violence Program

Saving Young Lives, Restoring Our Communities

Our Mission

To empower, educate, and uplift young Black boys and young men by addressing the root causes of gun violence and providing life-affirming alternatives. We believe that by investing in healing, opportunity, and community, we can help stop the cycle of violence—and help our youth thrive.

Program Overview

At The Feeders, we are committed to breaking the cycle of gun violence that disproportionately affects young Black boys and young men in our communities. Our Violence Prevention & Stop the Gun Violence Program targets youth from ages 12-18, providing them with life-changing opportunities, critical education, and community-based healing. We aim to foster safer neighborhoods, stronger families, and brighter futures.

At the heart of our mission is a powerful three-tiered program—Safe Streets, Strong Futures, Brothers for Peace, and Circle of Peace—that confronts gun violence on every front. Through Safe Streets, Strong Futures, we empower our youth to rise and build brighter paths forward. Brothers for Peace brings our young men together in unity and purpose to foster safer, more connected communities. And through Circle of Peace, we provide healing spaces and compassionate support for those whose lives have been forever impacted. Together, we’re planting seeds of hope, healing, and lasting change.

Join us in this vital mission—your support can help save lives, restore families, and strengthen our communities. Donate, volunteer, or partner with us today.
